Abstract
This study examines the crime of illicit speculation in Algerian legislation
under Law No. 21-15. It analyzes the legal concept of this offense as a threat to
food security and purchasing power. The research explores the deterrent
mechanisms introduced, shifting speculation from commercial infractions to
serious criminal offenses, including severe custodial sentences and accessory
penalties. The study concludes that the Algerian legislator has implemented a strict
framework to protect public economic order, emphasizing the need for judicial
precision in qualifying acts and establishing criminal intent to ensure economic
justice.
