Abstract
Abstract
The principal aim of this research work is to investigate the influence of note-taking techniques
on first-year license English language students at M’sila University. Further, it intends to
examine the effect of note-taking on linguistic development. To accomplish the purposes of the
study a questionnaire was conducted on 68 first-year English students at Msila University. A
descriptive statistical analysis was used to analyse the collected data. The results demonstrate
that students are aware of the significance of note-taking and its positive effect on improving
students writing skills and listening comprehension. In addition, the findings reveal that there
are various note-taking difficulties that students encounter during lectures. The study urges
teachers to introduce and teach different note-taking techniques according to the learners’
preferential style of learning. Also, it recommends students ameliorate their listening and
writing skills in order to take effective notes
