Abstract: This research addresses a number of issues related to honoring and disobeying parents by studying the systems of filial piety and the legal rulings and guidelines they contain. The first chapter is dedicated to explaining the concept of honoring and disobeying parents linguistically and technically, clarifying their virtue and status in Islamic law, highlighting the most important manners that children should possess in their dealings with them, explaining the manifestations, forms, and consequences of disobeying parents, and then mentioning the religious, worldly, and otherworldly fruits of honoring parents, and the most important means to achieve and persevere in it. The second chapter addresses the most important legal rulings related to honoring parents, as found in the treatise on filial piety, arranged according to the chapters of Islamic jurisprudence. It begins with matters of worship, such as responding to a parent's call during prayer, their prohibiting their child from certain acts of worship like prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage, and the ruling on a child traveling for jihad or seeking knowledge without their permission. It then examines matters of transactions, most notably the ruling on a parent taking from their child's wealth and the ruling on a parent retracting a gift given to them, before moving on to matters of personal status related to parents ordering their child to marry or divorce, and the resulting legal rulings and guidelines. This study has shown the great care that Islamic law takes in the rights of parents, and its keenness to establish the meanings of righteousness and kindness towards them, while explaining the jurisprudential rulings that regulate the relationship between parents and children, in a way that achieves a balance between performing the rights of God Almighty and the rights of parents, and contributes to the stability of the family and the cohesion of society.
