Abstract
Local commerce in Algeria still runs on informal channels: store visits, word of mouth,
Facebook groups. No digital platform connects people to shops nearby. This thesis describes
Souki, a mobile marketplace built around geolocation for the Algerian market. The name comes
from the Arabic word for market. Souki links consumers, local sellers, and delivery drivers in
one system, organized by wilaya. Products can be discovered by location or by photograph — a
user takes a picture of any object and finds it for sale nearby without typing anything. Orders
follow a structured lifecycle that reserves stock and prevents two drivers from claiming the same
delivery job. The platform is built on a Node.js back end, a MongoDB geospatial database, and a
Python AI microservice for image search. The mobile app runs on Flutter. The system is fully
deployed and operational.
