dc.description.abstractVI Abstract The present work is intended to explore plurilingualism and its effects on the Algerian identity. The work aims at defining plurilingualism, pinpointing its relation with other phenomenon such as multilingualism, pluriculturalism, and plurilingual identity and language awareness. Hence, the study presents the linguistic situation of Algeria through the history of the country where researchers have tackled the development of bilingualism and multilingualism in Algeria as well language conflict which has marked Algeria through a linguistic and political process called Arabization that aimed at establishing the Arabic language after the independence in 1962. In the practical part, a great amount of time has been devoted to the analysis of the data and the exploitation of the questionnaire which has allowed the collection and analysis of a great the number of language use instances.en_US
