Abstract

Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation has recently emerged as a promising alternative waveform. OTFS technique operates in the delay-Doppler domain. Our research presents a comparative study between OFDM and OTFS modulation schemes under time-varying environments. Our experiences are accomplished through MATLAB simulations, where Key performance metrics, including Bit Error Rate (BER), are analyzed over a range of Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) values and Doppler frequencies through selective varying channel models to reflect practical wireless conditions. Through simulations, we show that OFDM performs well in low-mobility scenarios however; its performance deteriorates rapidly as Doppler spread increases. Although, OTFS maintains stable and significantly improved BER performance under high-mobility conditions. Thus reveals OTFS as a strong candidate for modern communication systems.
