Abstract

Energy plays a major role in achieving environmental security in Algeria as it is committed to preserving the environment. Therefore, the Algerian government has adopted a national program to harness renewable energy as clean and environmentally friendly energy sources and is working on its development. This has helped achieve environmental, economic, and social security and reduced negative impacts by using traditional energy sources. Algeria has significant and diverse renewable energy sources, with solar energy at the forefront. Laws have been enacted to encourage the use of these energies within the framework of sustainable development, which further promotes their utilization. Consequently, it can be said that renewable energies have greatly contributed to improving environmental security in Algeria. Solar energy also contributes to enhancing environmental security, and its projects promote future economic development. Therefore, diversifying renewable energy sources enhances energy and environmental security. Thus, exploiting this clean energy source is a strategic choice for achieving environmental security and sustainable development in the country.
