Abstract PBL (Project-Based learning) is a modern teaching method that attempts to demonstrate students' ability to think critically. A vital aspect of the educational process is guiding students to think critically and creatively. The PBL approach has recently been adopted by the Algerian educational system as one of the education reforms. The purpose of this study is to see how utilizing PBL as a learning strategy in universities affects EFL students' cognitive abilities, specifically critical thinking. It also investigates to what extent PBL approach encourages students to think critically and creatively. Accordingly, the study adopted a mixed method approach in which two data collection tools were used, a questionnaire for students and an interview for teachers of M'sila University of Mohammed Boudhiaf. Despite the obstacles that some EFL students and teachers face while applying PBL, The majority of participants expressed satisfaction with the integration of PBL in English classes, giving it positive feedback and claiming that it plays a significant role in improving students' critical thinking, collaboration, and teamwork skills, as well as their ability to meaningfully fulfill their learning objectivesen_US
