| dc.description.abstract | Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks require efficient handover mechanisms to ensure seamless connectivity and service continuity for mobile users. This work presents the implementation and evaluation of handover algorithms in heterogeneous LTE networks using the ns-3 network simulator coupled with realistic mobility traces generated by SUMO. The study focuses on the impact of key handover control parameters, namely Hysteresis and Time-to-Trigger (TTT), on network performance. A simulation scenario based on the M’sila University Pole area was analyzed using performance metrics such as handover failure, ping-pong effect, RSRQ, and Mobility Interruption Time (MIT). The obtained results show that proper parameter tuning can improve mobility performance and reduce unnecessary handovers. In addition, a cost function approach was proposed to determine the optimal handover parameter configuration for the studied LTE environment. | |
