Abstract

This study aimed to identify the correlation between locus of control and risk-taking behavior among bus drivers in M’Sila, determining the dominant locus of control and the level of risk-taking behavior. It also sought to identify any differences related to age and years of driving experience among bus drivers. A descriptive correlational approach was used in this study. The study was conducted on a randomly selected sample of 80 bus drivers from various transport stations within M’Sila. To test the study hypotheses, the following instruments were used : the Locus of Control Scale (internal and external) by Rutherford (1966) and the Risk-Taking Behavior Scale by Dola (2006). Data were processed using SPSS software. The results showed that: 1. The predominant locus of control among the sample of bus drivers is an external locus of control. 2.The level of risk-taking behavior among the sample of bus drivers is low. 3. There are no statistically significant differences in the locus of control among the sample of bus drivers attributable to the age variable. 4. There are no statistically significant differences in the locus of control among the sample of bus drivers attributable to the years of driving experience variable. 5. There are statistically significant differences in the tendency toward risk-taking behavior among the sample of bus drivers attributable to the age variable. 6. There are statistically significant differences in the tendency toward risk-taking behavior among the sample of bus drivers attributable to the years of driving experience variable. 7. There is a positive statistically significant correlation between locus of control and risk-taking behavior among the sample of bus drivers.
