This work focuses on the design and performance enhancement of a microstrip patch antenna for 5G applications using Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures. The study presents the fundamental concepts of patch antennas, EBG, and Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) structures and investigates their role in improving antenna performance. Electromagnetic simulations were performed using CST Microwave Studio to evaluate key parameters such as reflection coefficient (S11), resonant frequency, bandwidth, gain, and directivity. The results demonstrate that the integration of EBG structures significantly enhances the overall performance of the antenna, making it a promising solution for future 5G wireless communication systems.
